KANNUR City Police's flagship initiative, 'Police Friendly Cadets', has emerged as a game-changer for young aspirants seeking a career in law enforcement.
KANNUR City Police's flagship initiative, 'Police Friendly Cadets', has emerged as a game-changer for young aspirants seeking a career in law enforcement. Over the past five years, 275 individuals who participated in the programme's training sessions have joined various uniformed forces.
Originally launched to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the youth, the initiative has evolved into a structured career-building platform. The programme was the brainchild of Kannur ACP T K Retnakumar, who introduced it in 2017 while serving as Kannur Town police CI. However, the training was halted for two years during the pandemic before being relaunched in 2022, following Retnakumar's appointment as ACP.
Retnakumar recalled how the programme took shape after witnessing poor performance by aspirants in the physical fitness tests for jail warden recruitment.
