Perumkaliyattam to be performed at Adhur temple after 351 years

AFTER a long hiatus of 351 years, the residents of Adhur are poised to celebrate the grand Perumkaliyattam, a momentous occasion that will see the revival of a cherished tradition of theyyam at Adhur Shree Bhagavathi Kshetram.
The temple, sacred to the Mukaya (Bovi) community, is poised to be enveloped in an atmosphere of profound ritualistic aura.
Among the eleven temples dedicated to the Mukaya (Bovi) community in Kasaragod district, the Adhur temple is poised to host the Perumkaliyattam for the first time in 351 years.
The devotees not only from Kasaragod district, but also from the Tulunadu region are also deeply connected to this temple.
The six-day festival starts on January 19.
Anil Kumar, the convenor of Perumkaliyattam, said, "Based on the Ashtamangala Deva Prasnam, the astrologer had predicted that this year's festival should be conducted in Adhur temple after 351 years.
