State to Launch Montessori Schools, Safety Force, Nutrition Drive

Government's all three ambitious initiatives to be launched at an event in Bengaluru on November 19, says minister Laxmi Hebbalkar

To celebrate the completion of 50 years of Anganwadi centres in Karnataka, the government will announce the launch of Government Montessori Schools in every village to nurture children with early basic education, ‘Akka Pade’ for the protection of women and ‘Chiguru’ to address malnutrition issues among the children. All the three ambitious government initiatives will be launched in a programme on November 19 in Bengaluru, said Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.

Speaking to reporters at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday after holding a departmental review meeting of seven districts, she said that a divisional-level progress review meeting of the department was held for the first time in Belagavi after Bengaluru. “I have reviewed the implementation and reach of several flagship programmes including Gruhalaxmi, POCSO, women and child protection initiatives, schemes for differently-abled persons, and other welfare measures targeted at women and children,” she said.
