YADGIR district has again made news after it stood in the top position for having the highest number of anaemic students from 1st-2nd PUC compared to other districts of Karnataka.
YADGIR district has again made news after it stood in the top position for having the highest number of anaemic students from 1st-2nd PUC compared to other districts of Karnataka. Earlier, after Karnataka Janapada Vishwavidyalaya at Haveri (Karnataka Folklore University) conducted a survey of children suffering from malnutrition, it recommended the government to provide eggs to students to improve their nutrition status.
As per the statistics in the Swasthya Kiran Portal, 1,94,604 students studying from class 1 to PUC 2nd year were screened in Yadgir district and 22,535 HBs captured. It was found that 196 students (1 per cent) were suffering from severe anaemic conditions, 5,357 students (26 per cent) with moderate anaemic conditions and 5,039 students (22 per cent) with mild anaemic conditions.
