Hidkal reservoir water diverted to factory owned by minister: BJP leader

"THE water from the Hidkal Reservoir is once again diverted to a factory owned by one of the cabinet ministers, which has raised serious concerns about misuse of irrigation resources," alleged former BJP minister Shashikant Naik.
Various farmer organisations staged a protest in the Hukkeri town, Belagavi on Monday. The demonstration took place near Court Circle, where farmer leaders and social activists formed a human chain and blocked the road for some time. The protest was sparked by the government's decision to resume water supply work from the Hidkal Dam to the Dharwad Industrial Area. Protesters demanded an immediate halt of this project.
