CM need not be Dalit, but should care for them

AT the time when the demand for the Dalit Chief Minister in Karnataka is getting cropped up on a regular intervals, Rajarathna Ambedkar, the great-grandson of Dr BR Ambedkar and national president of Bharatiya Bauddha Mahasabha has opined that it is not important whether the Chief Minister is Dalit or not, what is important is whether the person who has become Chief Minister genuinely works for the upliftment of Dalits or not.
"Instead of demanding a Dalit Chief Minister based on caste identity, the post should go to someone who genuinely works for the upliftment of Dalits," he said at a press conference on Sunday. He opined that despite having Dalit presidents of India, the condition of Dalits remains unchanged.
