CHILLI FARMERS IN DIRE STRAITS AS PRICES DROP

The farmers growing chilli are facing severe financial distress due to the continued decline in dry chilli prices.
As a result, many have been forced to sell green chillies at lower prices, further increasing their financial burden. Farmers who had hoped for good profits from dry chillies are now struggling with losses.
The situation has pushed many farmers to sell their green chillies at a mere Rs 2,000 per quintal (per 100 kg), which does not even cover their labour expenses. In an attempt to recover some losses, farmers are transporting their produce to Pune, Hubballi, and local markets.
