ABVP protests lecturer shortage in govt degree colleges

ACTIVISTS of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad of Kalaburagi took out a procession from SVP Circle to the Deputy Commissioner's office and staged a demonstration there on Friday, demanding the government to appoint sufficient permanent lecturers or qualified guest lecturers in all the First Grade Degree Colleges in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, state unit joint secretary Hanumanth Bagali said that out of 6,000 permanent lecturers in the 432 degree colleges under the Department of College Education in Karnataka, more than 3000 lecturers have already retired, and it is a known fact that degree classes are being conducted with the help of 12,000 guest lecturers along with only 3,000 permanent lecturers. It is the duty of the government to ensure that the rights of students to get quality education in government degree colleges of Karnataka continues and quality education is provided. But it is a matter of concern that the government, which has forgotten its sense of duty, has not taken a firm stand in the appointment of perm
