While monsoon showers have brought respite from the scorching heat, they've also revived a long-standing nightmare for Hyderabad residents: frequent and prolonged power outages.

From Jubilee Hills to LB Nagar, and Kukatpally to Uppal, power cuts have become routine every time it rains, no matter how light the drizzle, locals say.

Even brief showers are enough to plunge entire neighbourhoods into darkness for hours. "Barish hui, ab current jaayega (It rained a bit, now power will go," quipped Yogesh Kumar, a resident of Alwal, while speaking to TNIE. "It rained for barely 20 minutes last night, and the power was out for over two hours. It disrupts everything—work, water supply in apartments and even damages appliances."

In several areas, outages have lasted anywhere between one and three hours, often with no clear communication from authorities.
