Deal Signed to Provide ₹1 Cr Insurance Cover for Power Staff

DEPUTY Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday signed an agreement with the SBI to provide accident insurance cover worth ₹1 crore each to 51,868 employees of the power utilities in the state—SPDCL, NPDCL and Genco.

Speaking on the occasion, Vikramarka said the scheme had been introduced for the welfare of the families of electricity employees. He stated that power utilities staff work continuously, including during natural disasters and often risk their lives while performing their duties.

"This insurance scheme has been introduced to provide a sense of security to their families," he said. "From linemen to chairpersons and managing directors, all employees have families. In case of an unforeseen accident involving the earning member of the family, their dependents face hardship. To prevent such a situation, this accident insurance cover has been provided."
