Cong left tribals abandoned, BJP restored dignity: Modi
The New Indian Express Hyderabad
|November 16, 2025
PRIME Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the Congress failed to recognise tribals' contributions to India's freedom struggle and left them to their own fate during the party's 60-year rule after Independence.
He contrasted this with the BJP's record since 2014 in expanding welfare spending, building institutions, and elevating Adivasi leaders to national prominence.
Addressing a large gathering at Dediapada town in Gujarat's Narmada district to mark the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda, he said tribal sacrifices in the freedom struggle were suppressed to glorify "a few families," and asserted that his government restored honour to tribal icons and communities.
