The life expectancy in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab stands at 73.6 and 70.8 years, respectively, higher than the national average of 69.9 and reflects a modest improvement in the past five decades.
But Haryana's figure at 68.6 years is lower than the national average.
The female life expectancy at birth is highest in Himachal Pradesh, according to the latest Sample Registration System (SRS) data for 2018-22, released by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India, recently.
