Min: Plans are on to upgrade taluk hospitals to standards of dist hospitals

ADMITTING that a conflict has been emerging between the officials wherever the district government hospital is attached to the government medical college, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said that in order to avoid the tussle, the government is planning to upgrade the high-load taluk hospital to the district hospital, where the government district hospitals are attached to the government medical college.

"The district government hospitals have different priorities where medical services are paramount, and the medical colleges will have their own priorities. This is frequently leading to conflicts between the district surgeons and the deans of the college, and it is likely that the patients will suffer due to this. In order to address the issue, the government wishes to have a parallel system where taluk hospitals will be upgraded to the district hospitals where all the facilities will be provided,
