Rebecca Ferguson speaks with Hilary Morgan about her latest film, A House of Dynamite, and why it is important to have conversations about nuclear powers

'We can't Live Under a Threat'

Rebecca Ferguson has a knack for choosing roles that challenge her and resonate with audiences.

In her latest film, A House of Dynamite, she steps into the tense world of nuclear brinkmanship under the direction of Kathryn Bigelow. In this conversation, she talks about why the story matters, the challenges she faced, and what it was like working with a filmmaker she has long admired.

What made you want to be part of this film?

The script, the subject matter, and how important it is to raise questions and invite discussions. But also the chance to work with Kathryn Bigelow, a filmmaker I have admired for a long time. As soon as I knew she wanted me, it was a yes.

Why do you feel it is important to tell a story like this at this time?

I think it's important because this film explores a topic that is just not highlighted enough. But the threat has been there for as long as nuclear warheads have been in the world. What Kathryn has so brilliantly done is inject new life into this as a subject matter. I think the timing couldn't be more perfect for it to happen. I hope that, through this film, we can start conversations and question what could happen if an entity were to press a button and start a nuclear war.
