Three breaks for 2-3 minutes will be given without hindering classes; DEOs asked to ensure that schools comply with the edu dept's order
FOLLOWING government and aided schools, the School Education Department has implemented a water bell system in all types of private schools across the state.
The Directorate of Private Schools (DPS) in Chennai has, in turn, directed the District Educational Officers (DEOs) for private schools to ensure compliance with the water bell system in all private schools, to encourage students to drink water regularly.
A circular from DPS stated that all students must be instructed to bring a water bottle from home. During the morning prayer activities, authorities should explain the importance of hydration to students. A distinct bell, different from the usual type, can be used to nudge students to drink water as per their needs.
