53 Years On, CCMC Reclaims 42 Cents of Encroached OSR Land in Podanur

The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) has reclaimed a long-encroached piece of land earmarked for public use in Karunanidhi Nagar.

The 42-cent plot located in Ward 85 of the South Zone was encroached upon for more than five decades.

The land in question, a part of a 4.47-acre layout approved by the Town Planning Department in 1972, was originally allotted for 41 housing plots, along with 42 cents (approx. 18,295 sq ft), was designated for public and open space purposes. Of this, 37 cents were reserved for public utility and five cents for open space.
