HDFC gets RBI nod to buy 9.5% stake in IndusInd

HDFC Bank said on Tuesday that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved its request to allow its group entities to acquire up to a 9.5% stake in the troubled private sector lender IndusInd Bank.
In an exchange filing late on Monday, the bank said the approval applies to an “aggregate holding” by its group entities including HDFC Mutual Fund, HDFC Life Insurance, HDFC Ergo General Insurance, HDFC Pension Fund and HDFC Securities.
The HDFC Bank added that “it does not intend to invest directly in IndusInd Bank.”
