Drug racket busted in running train in Mumbai, global links suspected
The New Indian Express Chennai
|January 27, 2026
A late-night raid on the Amritsar Mumbai Golden Temple Mail has exposed what investigators say is a multi-city and possibly international drug syndicate, after a Mizoram youth was caught with cocaine and methamphetamine worth more than %2.19 crore.
The arrest is now linked toa Nigerian woman who was earlier held in Surat with a larger haul.
The train had barely slowed at Borivali late on January 25 when a joint team of the Railway Protection Force and the Narcotics Control Bureau moved in on coach B 4. Acting on specific intelligence, officers searched a 32-year-old passenger from Mizoram, Lalfakmavia, whose backpack and trolley bag carried more contraband than clothes.
