High gold prices to hit jewellery sales volume; revenue to grow 13-15%

THE ongoing rally in gold prices, which crossed the psychological $3,500/ounce mark on the global market on Tuesday and ₹1 lakh/10 gram in the domestic market, is set to eat up the sales volume of organised gold jewellery retailers by 9-11% this financial year.
Total sales volume may touch ₹4.5-5 lakh crore for the industry in FY26. However, given higher prices and realisations will help retailers clock 13-15% growth in revenue, Crisil Ratings said in a note on Wednesday. This comes on the back of four straight years of over 20% revenue growth. Volume, however, has remained subdued with consumers purchasing smaller quantities amid budget constraints due to higher prices.
