MS Karadi won by 24 votes against Ashok Nymgonda of Congress; Sumitra Jadhav declared winner unopposed
FINALLY, after months of delay, the Vijayapura City Corporation has a new Mayor, M S Karadi of the BJP and a new Deputy Mayor, Sumitra Jadhav, an independent. It may be noted that the election for Mayor and Deputy Mayor was held on January 27, but after several Corporators moved the Court accusing that the election were not held as per norms, Gulbarga High Court bench had given a stay on announcing the result.
