January 26, 2019

After completing his architecture in the UK, Rohit Roy, son of C J Roy, comes on board of the Confident Group as its executive director. The young businessman who believes in innovation, green-living, modernisation shares with Aswin Nandakumar his plan for the company

- Aswin Nandakumar

our father has made Confident Group as the most successful real estate story. As a person who is the next in line to carry forward the business, how do you feel about it?

I am very proud of my father to have achieved such great success. I am honored to get the chance to lead in future such a successful conglomerate such as Confident Group.

According to you, does business run in the blood or are the skills acquired?

This question can be answered in multiple ways, as some individuals prefer to be safe working a 9-to-5 job while others have a vision, and will take the extra steps to achieve it. The reason some individuals prefer a time bound job is security, a business man, would have had to take multiple risks, which not many are willing to take. So for the statement is it within the blood or an acquired skill, that would all depend on multiple factors such as the childhood and the surrounding an individual has been brought up on. For me, my father has been a great role-model as I used to get involved in the business in minor roles from the age of 11, During my school vacations, I used to do internship in my father's company. Understanding the company from the basics, and this process that my father put me through as definitely reflected on my personality and perspective of life, and business.

What do you think are the essential ingredients or factors for successful entrepreneurship?

Learning from the grassroot. Understand your business from the most basic factor of it. In my perspective a successful entrepreneur should know everything of his/her business as the most minor issues could lead to huge changes.

What, according to you, is the biggest reason for the success of Confident Group as a brand which you look forward to holding close to the heart?
