Not mandatory to publish list of names deleted from electoral rolls, EC tells SC

OPPOSING the application filed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) seeking publication of a list of persons excluded from the Bihar draft roll, the Election Commission (EC), in an affidavit, told the Supreme Court that it was not prescribed under election regulations to publish any such list.

This was the third affidavit filed by the poll panel in response to the Supreme Court notice over an application by the ADR which claimed nearly 65 lakh Bihar voters were excluded from the electoral roll without stating any reasons during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
