Naidu balancing act to form govt

TDP-led NDA wins 164 of 175 Assembly seats in Andhra, may take 25 MLAs/MLCs in cabinet

AS the TDP-led NDA in the State won 164 MLAs out of the total 175 seats, formation of Cabinet is going to be a tough task for TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, who is set to take oath as Chief Minister on June 12. Of the 164, the TDP on its own had won 135 seats and it would be a herculean task for Naidu to pick from them.

With the NDA sweeping eight out of the 13 combined districts and more candidates from the politically dominant castes including Kamma, Kapu and Reddy and also more number of MLAs elected from BC, SC and ST categories, maintaining the caste and regional balances is expected to be a big puzzle.

Apart from the Chief Minister, there is a possibility to take 25 MLAS/MLCs into the Cabinet. The Speaker post will also be added to the tally.
