PRESIDENT Donald Trump is considering various options for military strikes against drug cartels operating in Venezuela, which could include targeting locations within the country as part of a broader strategy to undermine leader Nicolas Maduro, sources familiar with the administration’s plans told CNN.

Trump warned Caracas on Friday that its fighter jets would be shot down if they threaten US forces, after Washington said two Venezuelan military planes buzzed an American naval vessel.
“If they do put us in a dangerous position, they’ll be shot down,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office when asked what steps he would take if there were further incidents.
