Indian-origin truck driver facing homicide charges in US denied bond

A 28-year-old Indian-origin truck driver, Harjinder Singh, accused of making an illegal U-turn that killed three people in Florida on August 12, was denied bond on Saturday.
Harjinder, who hails from the Rataul village in the Tarn Taran district of Punjab, had reportedly entered the US in 2018 via Mexico through the 'donkey route'. He was arrested six days after the accident at his California home and is now lodged in the St Lucie County Jail in Florida. He faces three counts of vehicular homicide and could be sentenced to around 50 years in prison. His next court hearing is slated for August 27.
