AS was expected, hosts India registered a thumping victory over Switzerland in their last Pool B match in Madurai on Tuesday to directly qualify for the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World quarterfinals.
The 5-0 victory over Switzerland also meant India finished Pool stage as the top-ranked team as they didn’t concede a single goal and ended with a goal difference of 29 despite five teams including them finishing with nine points. They will now take on Belgium (placed 8th after pool stage) in the quarterfinal scheduled in Chennai on Friday.
