Grand double for Haryana in kabaddi

IT turned out to be a fruitful day for the Haryana contingent as they bagged two gold medals in kabaddi in the Khelo India Youth Games being played here at the Jawaharlal Nehru indoor Stadium on Monday.

In a clinical display, the Haryana men's team defeated Rajasthan 43-28. In the women's segment, it was a big disappointment for Tamil Nadu.
They were the favourites to win with a good crowd support and familiarity of the conditions but their opponents, Haryana, won 40-33.
"Our girls fought well and gave their best. Coming to the final itself was a remarkable achievement. I am sure they will learn from their experience and this will come in handy in the future games," said Kavitha, coach of the TN women's kabaddi team.
Meanwhile, in squash Tavneet Singh Mundra of MP will take on Aryan Pratap Singh of Uttar Pradesh for the men's title and TN's R Pooja Arthi will lock horns with Nirupama Dubey of Maharashtra for the women's crown in the in the individual competition on Tuesday.
