Ex-principal remanded in 8-day police custody

IN a significant development, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Dr Sandip Ghosh, was sent to eight-day police custody on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in financial irregularities at the facility.

The Alipore court granted the CBI the custody of Ghosh and three others in the corruption case. During the hearing, the CBI said there is a large nexus that needs to be exposed, hence, interrogation. "We have arrested just four people. There is a larger nexus. We need their custody to unearth the entire nexus," it stated.
