BJP expels Eshwarappa for contesting as independent

SENIOR BJP leader and independent candidate for Shivamogga Lok Sabha seat KS Eshwarappa was expelled from the party on Monday for six years.

The party took this action in view of his decision to contest against BJP candidate BY Raghavendra and not to withdraw his nomination papers on Monday, the last day for withdrawal.
State BJP disciplinary committee chairman Lingaraj Patil issued the expulsion order. It said, "Disregarding the party's instructions, you are contesting as a rebel candidate from Shivamogga constituency.
Therefore, you are relieved of all responsibilities with immediate effect and expelled from the party for six years." Eshwarappa began his political career after the Emergency.
