OVER 23% women aged 15 and above face intimate partner violence in India in 2023, according to a recent Lancet study.

Also, 30.55% women and 13.22% men in the same age group experienced sexual violence as children in India, said the report, which studied intimate partner violence (IPV) against females and sexual violence against children in 204 countries, including India.

Globally, in 2023, there were an estimated 608 million females aged 15 years and older who had been exposed to IPV, while 1.01 billion males and females aged in the same group had been exposed to sexual violence during childhood.
