Why the world must denounce Trump's fraud

IN A SURREAL twist of global migration politics, US President Donald Trump, AKA “Don Dorito”, has once again played fast and loose with international refugee law.

His decision to grant 49 white South Africans, predominantly Afrikaners, refugee status is not only legally dubious, it’s morally incoherent. It’s a move steeped not in humanitarian concern but in a dangerous cocktail of white victimhood politics and far-right ideology.

Let's be blunt: Afrikaners are not refugees. This is not to dismiss the tragic reality of crime in South Africa, which affects all communities, but to mislabel a historically privileged minority as “persecuted” is an insult to those facing real, systematic oppression.

Afrikaners still own a disproportionate share of land and wealth in post-apartheid South Africa. Calling them refugees distorts the very meaning of the term.

Refugees, under the 1951 UN Convention, are people who flee their countries due to well-founded fear of persecution based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership of a particular social group.
