Newcastle City Council is proud to fly the Union Jack at our Civic Centre, and these flags are displayed on other buildings across the city, including as recently as the VJ Day 80 commemorations across the city centre.

"If any flag or other artwork appears on a council asset without permission - such as on a lamppost, pedestrian crossing or highway - we will remove it where it presents a safety risk, causes damage to property, or is not being maintained.

"We recognise the pride and passion of communities who wish to display a wide diversity of flags and artwork appropriately, for example on private property. This approach is the same as we would with any decoration or artwork being placed on a council asset and keeps Newcastle clean and safe."

"Northumberland County Council is proud to fly the Union Flag and County Flag at our headquarters, and these flags are displayed on other buildings across the county.

"If any flag or other artwork appears on a council asset without permission - such as on a lamppost, pedestrian crossing or highway - we will remove it where it presents a safety risk, causes damage to property, or is not being maintained."

"North Tyneside Council is proud to fly the Union Jack and St George's Cross at our Killingworth and Quadrant offices, and these flags are displayed on other buildings across the borough. We recognise the pride and passion of communities who wish to display a wide diversity of flags and artwork appropriately, for example on private property.

1. Give the greenhouse a winter tuneup. Check and clean panes, seals and gutters, and add insulation. Make sure you can still ventilate on mild days. Raise tender plants off the floor, add a min-max thermometer and set a small frost-stat heater.
