'UK's links with EU trump US relationship'

BRITAIN’S relationship with the EU is “arguably even more important” than trading links with the US, the Chancellor has said ahead of a meeting with her American counterpart.

Rachel Reeves was expected to discuss a potential US-UK trade deal when she met Treasury secretary Scott Bessent in Washington DC last night.

In an interview with the BBC, she said the Government was working “flat out” to secure a deal that would mitigate the impact of tariffs imposed by Donald Trump earlier in April.
