Turntide merges three sites into expanded facility
The Journal
|July 17, 2025
An engineering and technology firm that brought together three highly-rated North East companies has consolidated its activities into one main site.
Turntide Technologies was formed in 2021 when it acquired BorgWarner Gateshead, formerly known as Sevcon, Sunderland's Hyperdrive Innovation and Cramlington business Avid Technology.
The company has now integrated its three North East sites to create a consolidated engineering campus in Gateshead, supported by additional engineering and storage capacity at its Sunderland and Cramlington sites.
It has also welcomed North East mayor Kim McGuinness to open its new energy storage and battery technology production area at its Gateshead site.
