Tributes grow after care home tragedy

A HUGE collection of flowers has appeared outside the care home at the centre of a crash tragedy.

Two elderly residents from Highcliffe Care Home, in Sunderland, died after a car ploughed into the home on Wednesday. The women, one in her 90s and one in her 80s, passed away on Thursday.

Two men have since appeared in court accused of robbery and kidnap, while police say an investigation into the women’s deaths is ongoing.

Yesterday a huge hole in the front of the care-home building was still visible with debris strewn outside, while a large collection of bouquets and cards had been left outside.
