Ticket priority for locals as the Big Weekend returns

TICKET details have been confirmed for Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Sunderland - with priority to be given to local residents.

This year will be 21 years since the famous event was last in Wearside, with its two-day stint at Herrington Park opposite Penshaw Monument back in May 2005 attracting headliners like Foo Fighters, Chemical Brothers, Gwen Stefani and Black Eyed Peas. Sunderland’s own Futureheads topped the bill for the Introducing stage in their big breakthrough year.

News of Big Weekend returning to Sunderland from May 22-24, was broken in late November, with the announcement immediately sparking excitement from people all over the North East.
