TELEPHONE BOX ICE CREAM SHOP ON HOLD

The UK's “smallest ice cream shop” will not reopen this summer but there are hopes it will be back again in 2026. Tynemouth Telephone Box opened last May in a repurposed red phone box on Front Street serving soft ice cream and iced coffees.

It caused quite a stir in North Tyneside, with people “queuing down the street” on hot days.

Customers could get an ice cream from the smallest commercial soft-serve ice cream machine possible, and hot and iced coffees from a Grind pod coffee machine.
