Supporters looking for clarity over St James' Park season tickets

NEWCASTLE United chiefs have been asked for a figure on how many season ticket holders there are at St James' Park.

- By LEE RYDER

Holding a season ticket is like being in a private and exclusive club these days, and it is a throwback to the Entertainers era when many fans were locked out of St James.

Long after the Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson days, the failings of Mike Ashley meant that 10,000 season tickets were actually given away in 2019 as crowds and interest began to dwindle due to the lack of ambition and substandard performances on the field under Steve Bruce.

But the crowds came flooding back to St James' in 2021 when Ashley sold the club for £305m to Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and Bruce was replaced by Eddie Howe.

A scramble for tickets, just like the 90s, began once again, and the ticket office was inundated with requests for season tickets.

Suddenly, the fans who stuck through thick and thin during the Ashley days were the holders of a passport to potentially see the club's greatest era.

The question for many is how can they get their hands on a season ticket, and what about the prospect of bringing future generations through the turnstiles?

Here's where we stand on season tickets at St James'

How many season ticket holders are there at St James' Park?

That is the question that many fans would like to know, and one that Newcastle have not made public in recent times.

The last time a batch of season tickets were made available to buy was summer 2022 when around 1,000 were placed on sale and understandably snapped up straight away.
