THE three remaining stations yet to open on the Northumberland Line remain on track to welcome passengers by the end of the year.

- JAMES ROBINSON Local Democracy Reporter

Trains are currently stopping at Ashington, Seaton Delaval and Blyth Newsham.

However, the stations at Blyth Bebside, Bedlington and Northumberland Park remain under construction. It is anticipated that Bebside will open later this summer, while Bedlington and Northumberland Park are expected to open before the end of 2025.

It comes as a new train - designated the Northumbrian - has been specially decorated to celebrate the opening of the line. Unveiled at a ceremony in Ashington by rail operator Northern last Thursday, the artwork features depictions of local landmarks including Seaton Delaval Hall, Blyth Beach Huts and Woodhorn Colliery.

Also included are football fans in Newcastle United and Sunderland colours, The Angel of the North and George Stephenson, the famous engineer from Northumberland who played a key role in the creation of the modern railway in 1875.
