Setting sail for careers day event

SHIPPING companies from around the world will be come to Tyneside this weekend as part of an education and careers day at South Shields Marine School

The school, which attracts students from the UK and overseas and is said to be the oldest purpose built marine college in the world, is hosting the event on Saturday, April 26.

Principal Simon Ashton, who trained at the marine school himself, returned after a successful career at sea.
