Scots will be better for drawing on experience of past - Hanley

Grant Hanley, right, says Scotland must learn from their past tournament experiences

(PA)

The Hibernian defender has shaken off the knee injury that forced him off on the final day of the season and is raring to go as Scotland try to get past the group stage of a tournament for the first time.

Scotland have collected one point and finished bottom of their group in each of the past two European Championships.

There have been some high points - an impressive display in a goalless draw against England and a spirited showing against Switzerland.

But the overriding feeling after each campaign was disappointment. Scotland suffered rare back-to-back Hampden defeats against the Czech Republic and Croatia at Euro 2020, were thrashed 5-1 by Germany and failed to put Hungary under serious pressure in a do-or-die encounter two years ago.
