Restored theatre ready for heart of community role

New life has been breathed into the Roxy Theatre in County Durham and the beautifully-revamped Art Deco venue will be welcoming audiences from December as it launches a new era.

A first look inside the restored auditorium in Leadgate, near Consett, reveals that, save for a few finishing touches, it is all ready for action. And the cast of upcoming pantomime Snow White, which will be its opening show, turned up for photos there during a first glimpse of what will be in store when families take to their seats currently still covered in protective plastic in the sparkling new surroundings.
