A RURAL prep school is "thrilled" after winning a national award.

Mowden Hall School in Stocksfield, Northumberland, has been named Independent Prep School of the Year at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards.
This year, the awards saw a record number of nominations.
The winners were announced at a ceremony at The Law Society in London on Tuesday.
