Popular food event set to serve second helping

THE year’s second serving of the hugely popular Newcastle Restaurant Week has been announced so food lovers and bargain hunters can get their diaries out now.
The twice-yearly event proved the usual success on its first outing of the year in January, when around 58,000 diners enjoyed cut-price meals, and its organisers have just announced the dates for the next run.
The NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week has been running since 2011 and has grown hugely over the years, with more than 100 city centre restaurants regularly signing up to lay on special-offer menus for customers.
The next instalment - which forms part of the NE1 business improvement district company's Summer in the City programme - is to take place from August 4-10.
