Police force unveils plan for new HQ

NORTHUMBRIA Police has unveiled plans for a new headquarters on Tyneside.

The force is aiming to modernise, with North Tyneside Council notified of plans to transform a building in Cobalt Business Park.

This long-term estate efficiency and improvement programme is seen as a necessity, with the continued investment in ageing buildings being expensive and unsustainable, and the plans have been given the green light by Police and Crime Commissioner Susan Dungworth.

The Cobalt site has been earmarked as the new home for the communications and command teams, which will centralise all of the emergency call handlers, and bring officer training into one location.
