Passengers warned of closure to Metro line over Easter

TYNE and Wear Metro services will be shut down in South Tyneside for five days during the school Easter holidays.

The section of the yellow line between Pelaw and South Shields will be closed from Monday, April 13 to Friday, April 17, as 3,200 metres of new overhead wire are installed.
A replacement bus service will run during that period, calling at or close to all affected Metro stations.
Operator Nexus says that it has scheduled the works during the Easter holiday to avoid impacting busier commutes, with less road traffic to help speed up alternative travel times on replacement buses.
