Objections continue on plans to merge schools

PUBLIC objections continue to roll in over controversial plans to merge two North Tyneside primary schools.

Partial analysis of a now concluded consultation has found dozens of maintained objections ahead of a final decision later this month.

According to current analysis from North Tyneside Council, 54 objections have been registered to proposals to close Hazlewood Primary School and merge with neighbouring Greenfield Primary.

Only five supportive comments have so far been logged, between December 4 and December 22.

If the plans are approved by council chiefs on next Monday the merger is scheduled for a staggered completion by September, 2028.
