North East is great place for business, say leaders
The Journal
|May 13, 2025
ONE of the North East's most prominent business leaders says she wants to turn around the perception that the region does not have opportunities for talented people.
Former Dragons' Den star Sara Davies, who runs the Crafter's Companion company in County Durham, said a number of her family members had been told that their careers would be hampered by basing themselves in the North East.
She said she wanted to use the profile she had gained in recent years to reverse that perception.
She added that she had returned to Crafter's Companion when it could have gone out of business at the end of last year because she could recognise the potential of its staff and did not want that to go to waste.
Ms Davies was speaking at a Northern Leaders event being recorded for the Business Cloud podcast, hosted by Chris Maguire.
She was appearing on a panel that also featured Greggs CEO Roisin Currie and Sophie Milliken, award-winning entrepreneur and founder of media company Moja.
