LIFE EXPECTANCY RATES REVEALED

THE North East’s worst locations for life expectancies for men and women have been identified in a NHS report.

Gateshead has been found to have the worst life expectancy for men in the region, whereas County Durham has the worst life-span for women, according to NHS North East and Cumbria.

The report found males in Gateshead can expect to live on average to just 76.5 years, compared to the national average of 79.3 years, whereas women in County Durham can expect a life span of just 80.8 years, around two years shorter than the national average.

The life expectancy figures from across the region are as follows:
