Fitness guru Joe Wicks tells LAURA HARDING about his New Year TV special

If anyone can help even the most slovenly couch potato out of their winter slump, it's Joe Wicks.

The fitness guru, author and TV personality's bright smile, infectious energy and upbeat and sunny personality cheers up the gloomiest of drizzly days and he found a raft of new fans when he kept kids on their toes with his lockdown PE classes during the Covid pandemic.

Now he is determined that 2026 gets off to a flying start, and people feel energised and inspired, with a one-off special on ITV1, Joe Wicks New Year's Day.

It will feature quickfire workouts to get Brits up on their feet, tips for delicious and nutritious recipes, and expert advice on wellness and motivation.

Joe, 40, says: "Not everyone wakes up on New Year's Day in a good mood. Not everyone's happy on New Year's Day. Lots of people find it a time to reflect, or they've had a really big week of boozing and overeating, and they don't feel that great mentally.
